Gearing Up for Show & Rodeo Season
01.15.10
I know it is only January but show and rodeo season are right around the corner. Depending on what events you participate in the entry fee can be fewer then ten dollars to well in the hundreds. Here are some changes we have made to help save money while showing:
· Trailer pool – It sounds like a no brainer doesn’t it. Everyone splits the cost of fuel or we take turns driving. In the end it is a savings.
· Pack your own food and drinks. – The eating out adds up through out the show season. At the end of the season the savings can be well into the hundreds of dollars.
· Lodging – Just like trailer pooling split the costs of lodging amongst those that are traveling with you.
· Buy nicely used show clothes. – It’s not uncommon to see rail shirts, jackets, and showmanship out fits that cost five hundred to over a thousand dollars. For most people that is out of their budget, but that doesn’t mean you can’t show. With the help of the internet you can find a nicely used show garment within your budget.
These are a few changes that we have made to help our dollar go a little further during our busy show season. What are some of your tips to help save money during the busy show and rodeo season?
